Concert or dinner show?
A short concert with a glass of port (around an hour) is the purest way to hear fado, and the easiest to fit into an evening. A dinner show wraps the music around a Portuguese meal for a longer night out. Pick the concert for the music, the dinner show for the occasion.
Porto vs Lisbon
Lisbon has the deepest fado heritage and the most famous venues, but its biggest houses can feel touristy. Porto's scene is smaller, warmer and less polished in a good way, and it comes with the city's port wine on the doorstep. If you're in Porto, you don't need to save fado for Lisbon.
